Custom Software - Programmable Pressure Valve - Mitsubishi L26CPU & AJ65BT-R2N

PCS recently received a RFQ from a customer to integrate a programmable pressure control valve system to an existing machine.  The system utilized Mitsubishi L26CPU-BT PLC and other L-Series equipment. The customer was having difficulty working with the OEM so they decided to request competitive bids from local integrators.  After choosing PCS in the past from competitive bid scenarios, they knew they were getting the best source for the most cost effective concepts, while also providing very thorough and high quality work.

The concept of the project was to automatically adjust gas flow based upon multiple input parameters/sensors and programmable set-points.  The pressure valve controller was only offered in a serial control interface, and it was located too far from the PLC to satisfy normal RS-232 cable distance standards.  PCS utilized a Mitsubishi AJ65BT-R2N module mounted near the pressure controller and interfaced to the PLC via the existing CC-Link network.  Extensive software was written to communicate and fully automate the pressure controller.

The project was such a great success that the customer provided PCS with additional orders for the same solution on other parts of their system.  Requests for additional features were also presented to PCS.  By doing such quality work, sometimes what starts out as a small order can turn into something much bigger.

An Overview of the Mitsubishi PLC Programmer

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is used to interact with inputs and outputs in order to assist in machines functioning with automation.  A PLC is basically a computer with a processor that interacts with the outside world....
